Lifelock’s guarantee is bogus. Read the fine print. It’s a SERVICE guarantee which means that if they fail to do their job, they will pay to make it right. So what’s their job? Placing fraud alerts on your behalf every 90 days. NOT PROTECTING YOU FROM IDENTITY THEFT! And fraud alerts aren’t even fool-proof. Its NOT MANDATORY for credit agencies to contact you before they open an account in your name, even with a fraud alert. I choose Identity Guard. They monitor your credit AND internet, place fraud alerts and have INSURANCE, not a bogus guarantee.

Steve, buddy, there's this neat little program called calc.exe...you oughta check into it. It's located in C:\Windows or C:\winnt. 60*60=3600 secs/hr 3600/3 (one every three seconds)=1200/hr 1200*24=28,800/day 28,800*365=10,512,000/yr Sounds about right compared to what I hear on the news. (not a customer, just researching)

This is crazy all of the people that ask if LifeLock is legit. they are FTC compliant and do you see all of the companies that resell LifeLock and back lifeLock. There was just an announcement that Goldman Sachs invested 25 million into LifeLock. That is the number 1 investment company in the world. If they back LifeLock then you would be crazy not to.

I want to say that WalletLock is incredible. It is free to any subscriber. My wife and I had our purse and wallet stolen from our home..yes our home. We made one phone call to lifeLock and in 4 days we had all new cards, including drivers license and our 3 total creditcards and debit cards. What a great service. I understad you can place fraud alerts on your own, but what happens if you do fall victim to identity theft? you would be out all that time and money when LifeLock will do it for you. I recomend this to everyone.

I'm a satisified Lifelock customer. No, I don't have an amazing story about how lifelock came to the rescue. I do have peace of mind that if someone opened a credit account in my name LifeLock will pay back the money lost. Regarding "why pay someone to do it when you can get it for free": Yeah, I just don't have that kind of time or patience to deal with Credit Bureaus every 90 days. I've done it twice in 10 years and that was bad eneough. In the past I've compared dealing with these customer UNfriendly companies with getting a tetnus shot: it's needed protection but OH My God how it hurts! It is a long, drawn-out process that involves very few live people and lots of looping voicemail messages. My 10 bucks a month is well spent!

every 3 seconds would be over a billion cases of ID theft a year. I have not had a case so perhaps some have it happen more than once or this claim is not true. Anybody know?

Tony, your argument amount "why pay when you can do it for free" is the same as why would someone pay for a housekeeper, you can do it yourself for free. LifeLock makes it known that these are things you can do on your own. the fee is more for a convenience fee so you domnot have to worry about it and you also get the gaurantee. I am not a customer of lifelock and stumbled across this by trying to do research. I am more concerned about wether or not the company is trustworthy and ligit, then I will decide if I want to pay for the convenience.

Why pay LifeLock $10 every month for things you can do for free? You can put the fraud alerts on your credit report (free) every three months and now even freeze the reports (free for identity theft victims). You can opt-out of pre-approved credit card offers for free. And with the FACT Act, you can request your credit reports for free once per year, anyway. The only remaining services seem to be identity theft insurance and their service that contacts banks if your cards get stolen. Identity theft insurance is good in theory, but federal and state laws protect you so that you can fight it on your own. Why not just leave a list of cards at home? Totally not worth the price, but I fully advocate fraud alerts or freezing and opt-outs on your own. Additionally, there are plenty of forums with tons of good insight. I get a lot of good information from CreditBoards.

To what J. Meadows said below. It's not Lifelock's responsibility to contact you...it's the company you are trying to open the line of credit with to verify your ID. So it's not Lifelock's fault the company didn't follow the procedures. That's what the gaurentee is for. If you people read the terms you would understand that. Lifelock is a great company.

I'm sure not feeling very warm and fuzzy after reading so much negative information. Does anyone have anything good or positive to say? Cambeara

Hello potential lifelock customer! I would just like to say what a piece of crap company your about to waste your money on! I joined lifelock for most likely the same reason you are, because I am concerned about identity theft, so I payed $100.00 for a year. I was assured that if anyone tried to use my credit to buy a new car or get credit cards that I would be notified. So I put Lifelock to the test. I applied for credit in a variety of stores and was never notified of anything! I then told lifelock about this, and a couple of days later they email me back saying that it wasn't thier responsibilty to call me!! I then cancelled my account, with NO APOLOGY from Lifelock. A couple of days later my email box is spammed with email from lifelock, with offers of thier new crap "walletlock" service. I then tried to call Lifelock to inform them to stop spamming me, and I was on hold for 20 minutes, and no one ever picked up! So I tried another department within Lifelock to see if they could help me, I was answered by a disinterested sounding woman who said the only thing she could do was transfer me back to customer service! So after waiting another 15 minutes with no answer I gave up. I strongly urge you NOT to waste your money with these frauds! I have already informed my entire workplace not to sign up with these guys, and I strongly urge you to spread the word!

AS A NEW YORK CITY INSURANCE BROKER I THINK THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR CONSUMERS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES PROACTIVELY. MOST OTHER PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR THE CONSUMER REACT AFTER THE CRIME, IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET OUT IN FRONT OF THIS POTENTIAL NIGHTMARE. WHERE CAN I SIGN UP? AND MORE IMPORTANTLY HOW CAN I INVEST?

I heard about your company and was reading your info on the internet. Very interesting! About Luke Helms, I think it should read Chairman and not chariman. Mistakes or typos like these should not happen with a company like yours. Sincerely, Klaus J. Karwath

I have had my identity stolen twice. Each time the thieves used my debit card to buy around $500 worth of merchandise. Each time I had my money back within a week. I wonder about LifeLock's guarantee. Have they had to pay out any money yet for identities stolen? Will they ever have to pay? Is this just another scam to get my money for nothing? Would my situation have been any different if I had LifeLock? Would they have given me more than I lost? Remember the junk mail we used to get insuring credit cards for losses over $50. I beleive that by law, this is the most anyone can loose from illegal use of a credit card so these insurers were nothing but scammers. Am I the only one that is questioning this?
