Overview

Jangl allows users to call anyone with simply an email address. To contact someone, users simply enter an email address into the web form on the homepage, and Jangl will provide a number to call and leave a message for that person. Jangl then takes that message and delivers it to the intended recipient with a phone number (not your real number, but local to them) to call the original user back.

It’s easy to see that Jangl could use this feature to transition other modes of communication on to the phone by expanding the modes they invite people through. In the long run, Jangl plans to make money off of hosting long distance VOIP calls. Social networking’s internationalization seems to be a ripe breeding for these types of calls. Note that Jangl’s calling widget already has distribution on over 40 million user profiles through deals with social networks like Tagged.

Competitors/similar companies include: Jajah (although Jajah and Jangl have recently stricken a deal), Jaxtr, GrandCentral, and Tring me.
